Covid has been a rotten experience for nearly everyone and tragic for many. I was one of the lucky few. Blocked in France and unable to return to Sydney because of Australian government policy I decided to do what many others were doing - flee to the country. In May 2021 Helene and I plundered our respective savings and took possession of this 1850s 'Bergerie', about 5 kilometres east of a village called Cotignac in the Var region of Provence. It has a small olive grove with 60 trees on 1.3 hectares and is surrounded by vineyards and fields. The house itself is quite small but incredibly robust with walls 60 centimetres thick. . What you see here is the renovated version (we were fortunate to find a fantastic local builder) which was completed by August 2021. I've also included some snaps of the neighbourhood which hopefully impart a sense of place..
